JohnsA wide variety of short sci-fi stories with flavors rangingfrom horror to western. Many were quite thought-provoking, othersquite amusing.

Definitely worth the price.0 of 0 people found thefollowing review helpful. SF Short StoriesBy Linda BI am a fan ofSF shorts and this collection will be added to my list offavorites.
The tales are all by the same author and he certainlyhas a talent for the short story. The writer grabs your attentionquickly and moves briskly through the entertaining stories. Eachstory has a different theme but all are well developed stories andcharacters in just a few pages. Waves In Time is a collection of science fiction short stories. This collection isn't so much about the subject of time itself. It's more of a journey through different points of time. From thepre mankind era on earth in 'Second Chance' to the wild west in 'AWeek From Sundown' and 'Some Kind Of Monster Thing' and on to'Coming For You' and' 'Shortcut To Farside' which take place in thefuture. Some of the stories cover issues we deal with in oureveryday lives.

'Coming For You' explores a lighter look at thesingle minded determination with which we kill each other in warand what we might put ourselves through to accomplish it. Thesometimes hilarious 'Shortcut To Farside' touches on the samesingle mindedness with which we might pursue love.' Almost Immortal'is a comical look at technology that goes wrong but ultimatelyleads to something better.
'Head Start' looks at how two detectiveshandle a very unusual investigation in the same way they normallywould only to find that nothing is as it seems. The story 'AvengingAdel' shifts to more of a fantasy style of tale with spells ofmagic and demons. A tale where the hunter suffers a crushing lossthat changes his normal everyday job of demon hunting intosomething of a much more personal nature. Many of the works in thiscollection contain humorous situations and dialog. 'Reality OfIllusion' has no dialog and leans towards a darker look at howsomeone refuses to accept their current situation and rebelsagainst it.
'The Cost Of Progress' is a quick look at how dangerousadvanced and untested technology can be.Overall, this is not acollection of hard science fiction stories. It's more a handful ofquick, easy reading short stories that present the science fictionwith my own brand of twisted humor and the use of somewhatsarcastic characters to achieve that humor with.Mason Dixon in 'TheMason Line' is one of those characters.
He's a tracker who'sunwillingly pulled out of retirement to find the runner that'skilling all his friends, only to be told that the runner was alsoone of those old friends, and a past lover as well. Constantlybeing told that he was just a glorified killer and no longer thebest at what he did, he set out to prove them all wrong.Alsoincluded in Waves In Time is the first chapter of my soon availablescience fiction novel, Standard Affair.
